The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is
certainly one of a kind. When it was revealed earlier this year, fans
everywhere wanted to try out this mighty beast. For sure, there is a lot to
salivate over from its exterior build quality, engine options, and interior
features.
Steel Backbone and Aluminum Body
Ford knows the importance of
building solid bodies for towing trucks, which is why the 2017 Ford F-150
Raptor has a body made of high-strength, military grade aluminum alloy, making
it approximately 500 pounds lighter than the previous versions. In addition, it
has a boxed steel frame reinforcing the body, making it more robust and sturdy.
TORSEN Front Differential
A highly unique feature of this
model of the F-150 is its TORSEN front differential that improves its off-road
capabilities. It functions by transferring the torque to the stable wheel
before it starts slipping. This way, the system is able to increase the grip
for the front end of the truck, giving it greater pulling power.
Engine Options
Ford has replaced the previous V8
with an all-new and promising 3.5-liter V6 engine. It is an EcoBoost second
generation engine that Ford claims is a lot better than the previous one.
Equipped with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, direct fuel injection and
twin turbochargers, this engine is capable of producing up to 450 horsepower.
